I first met Mike at the beginning of his journey into academia at the University of Humberside in my role as Lecturer and Course Leader in Documentary Communications. Mike was one of the most thoughtful students on the course, in every way. His theoretical aptitude shone through and I know continued to grow and shine brightly. But it will be his sheer passion for theorising that I'll remember him, that and his wry sense of humour and sardonic style.
