We have all lost a wonderful and irreplaceable man in the one Mike Mason. I have been lucky enough to have known Mike since 1990, over half of my life. As a student friend in Hull and then a colleague friend in Lincoln, I have been so very lucky to have had Mike around to call on, and to know that he is out there. All I have now is a memory to call upon, and that memory is so very loud and clear and I feel lucky to have heard and have my attention and my affection held by this one Mike. Although we cannot see Mike now, like a firm foundation, and so now only available as a memory, he supports strongly and supports from underneath. A friend and foundation (a friendation) indeed ‘is’ Mike. Though Mike is absolutely irreplaceable, his family, particularly Tracey and Annie, have so so many rich memories of Mike to draw substance from. The phograph that has been chosen, so perfectly captures Mike’s way. Here’s to Mike, and he also had very very good taste in headwear ( I will always remember his Russian hat from Hull) Cheers Mike, from your friend Tony
